FNSP Volunteers Make a Difference

Make a Difference Week, hosted by the Society for Ecological Restoration (SER), is an annual week of global restoration action where individuals and organizations from around the world host and participate in local volunteer restoration events. The Friends of North Saanich Parks aligned with the SER and Make a Difference Week this year by hosting our June 8th event in Green Park. A hearty and busy group of 11 volunteers put in 40 total hours of work moving the park along the path to a more natural state by removing a roll-off bin full of invasive English ivy, holly, Himalayan blackberry, and daphne plants.

Since 2021, more than 600 restorative events (e.g., removing invasive species, planting native species, collecting seeds) attracting 14,000 volunteers in 47 countries have been hosted as part of Make a Difference Week. Thanks to our volunteers for making a difference locally.
